TDI ADVANCED TRIMIX DIVER Explore the Ocean's depths with training for dives as deep as 100m...

TDI Advanced Trimix Diver with Tech Asia

The TDI Advanced Trimix Course trains technical divers to operate in very deep water. The knowledge, skills and procedures taught in this course are more than adequate to qualify divers to perform dives as deep as 100m/330ft.  Hypoxic gases, multiple decompression mixes and stage diving techniques are all explored during training.

What Will Advanced Trimix Diver allow you to do?

We are fortunate at Tech Asia. If we want to make a 90-100m/300ft. dive we only need to travel about ten minutes to be able to do it. For a TDI Advanced Trimix Diver, the Deep Atolls is a perfect example. From about 66m/220ft on down, this unusual, eerie landscape creates a feeling that anything can happen. This is prime Thresher Shark country but the impression you have is that everything is ancient and been undisturbed for ever. Groupers are so large you can imagine them to be a hundred years old, battle scarred old rays buried in the seabed...every dive here is memorable. This is also the minimum certification you need for us to take you to the bottom of 100m wall at Hibo Reef, and the most challenging parts of Blackfish Pinnacle, equally as atmospheric. Or are you thinking of a wreck dive? The Princess of the Orient, a huge ship sunk in a typhoon just outside Manila Bay, would now fall in to your range of possibilities!

Prerequisites

  • Must be certified as an TDI Extended Range or Trimix Diver or equivalent.
  • Must have a log or proof of 100 dives, of which 25 are deeper than 30m/100ft.
  • Proof of sufficient experience with any specialized equipment such as dry suit or DPV to be used.

Program Content and Limits

  • Confined waterwork will be completed dealing with equipment set-up, handling and dive technique, plus emergency skills and stress management exercises.
  • Four training dives, at least two of which are below 70m/230ft, and not deeper than 100m/330ft.
  • Multiple decompression gases and/or use of bottom stages will be presented, as will use of travel gases.
  • Bottom PO2 limited to a maximum of 1.4 ATA at maximum depth, decompression gas PO2 will not excedd 1.6ATA.

What You Will Learn

During the TDI Advanced Trimix Diver course you will further develope what you learned during Trimix Diver or Extended Range. Dive planning becomes even more important to understand due to depth, potential oxygen exposure and gas required in the event of a problem requiring sharing, or loss of a decompression gas. All can be managed but how to perform a very thorough "what if" analysis needs to be understood when making such deep dives.

During the classwork, land drills and in water you will learn about :

  • Reviews of all topics from the Trimix Diver Program, such as Dive Planning, Risk Analysis, Inert Gas Narcosis, CO2, Understanding Oxygen, DCS and Decompression Theory.
  • Helium Considerations and risk of Hypoxia.
  • Operational Considerations.
  • Detailed understanding of Decompression Software.

Note: As with other TDI programs, the diver must complete and pass the written examination, complete all open water requirements efficiently and safely, and demonstrate mature and sound judgement in dive planning and execution in order to be certified.

Equipment, Materials, What's included?

You will find details of what is included and not included across all TDI courses on the Overview page.

The TDI Advanced Trimix course is normally taught in double tanks although Sidemount can be used by those already certified.  The use of three decompression tanks, or two decompression and a bottom stage, is explored during training.

For this level of diving, to reduce exertion at depth and make for the most succesful dives, use of a DPV if you are qualified to do so is highly encouraged. We do offer training and rental if you need it.

Gas cost on this course can be quite variable depending on the number of people in the class, and the profiles you decide to make during training. As a rough guide, expect Helium to cost between $450-700/ Php 22,000-35,000.

As of now, only a printed manual is available for this course, there is no eLearning option available.
