The PADI Tec 50 Diver represents a high level of achievement. You will have well developed diving skills and be comfortable planning and executing dives up to 50m/165ft in depth with your buddy, using multiple decompression gases as required.
This will open the doors to many exciting dives and opportunities. Right here in Puerto Galera we have a unique and rarely visited outer reef, an ancient submerged geological feature running several kilometers along the cost at 40-55m and having numerous breathtaking spots. Look at our Dive Site map for places like Secret Reef, Markus Cave or the Fishbowl for what you might be able to visit now. Tech Asia also organizes trips to places with incredible shipwrecks in this range. Dive holidays of a lifetime such as the HMS Hermes in Sri lanka, or the Japanese Fleet in Truk Lagoon. With a qualification like this your diving is just beginning...
Course options
This course can be taken using air or trimix as a bottom gas. Whilst air as a breathing gas has long been regarded as acceptable at these depths by many, the latest research and evidence shows that whilst using air at 40 meters gas narcosis and density can pose high levels of risk to the diver. The use of Trimix reduces these risks and is recommended. Course fees are based on air as the primary breathing gas, if you wish to use Trimix there will be an additional charge for the gas, please ask us for a quotation.
This course can fit into two days, three is very comfortable. The course includes self study, two knowledge development sessions, three practical applications, and four training dives. You may find at this point that much of the acedemic content is already familiar, and now you are primarily reinforcing it. In the water, training dives will show you how to :
Note that if Tec 40, 45 & 50 are all taken at the same time, training duration comes down six or seven days depending how much of the Knowledge development you have completed before arrival.
At this level you will continue to use a full, standard technical configuration of either backmounted double tanks, or of Sidemount if you are qualified to do so or wish to combine your training with a Tec Sidemount Diver course. You'll be adding an extra decompression tank to your configuration and likely see how to integrate further essentials such as primary lights, or drysuit inflation systems, into your gear in such a way that they don't compromise important basics such as ability to perform gas shares. With the need for more equipment on deeper dives comes a need for a better understanding of how to make it all work smoothly for you.
You can find details of what is included in all PADI courses on the Overview page and course prices here.
You'll use the Tec Deep Diver Crew-Pak that you received during Tec 40 Diver. As stated, you can expect academic content to be an expansion and reinforcement of concepts you have already been taught, to the point where you can rely on your dive planning skills unsupervised by us.
